This is my Second Curry with Xacuti Masala.
This Shakudi / Xacuti curry is a unique and very famous curry in Goa. We Goan prepare dis Curry for all function, Like Baptizim, Marriage, Birthday etc. This curry is very Yummy blend with spices, tamarind & fresh coconut.
I like my both mum Xacuti curry as their food is magical & Terrific.
Earlier I prepare with chicken and this time I did with Moog dal coz ma kids don’t like veggie. So this is the way I intro them with veggie. I often make this masala with Pulses.
This is Mine and ma daughter favorite curry and any food with roasted coconut we love to have fresh coconut as well, I just love any food which coconut is mix match when we go to goa for holidays just have to fullest @ ma mum place & ma mum has coconut plantation.
I cup Moong dal – Green Moong – Soak overnight.
I try with Sprout also it turn gud as well.
4 dried kashmiri chilies
1/2 coconut, grated
2 tsp coriander seeds
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
1 tsp fenugreek seeds
1 tsp turmeric
4 curry leaves
1 inch piece of cinnamon
½ inch ginger
3 cloves of garlic
1 medium onion
1 Medium Potato (Cute into medium cube)
salt to taste.
Take a frying pan put some ghee and roast the coconut and remove
Add all the spice also curry leave roast except onion and finely grind.
Take a pressure cooker add onion sauté till it turn translucent
Then add the spice mixture and sauté for a few minutes.
Add the Moong dal, potato, tamarind water, add salt and a half cup water.
Close the lid let it cook with one whistles. I close coz I does want to much mash. you can check the curry if u want more can at more and adjust what the salt.
Garnish with freshly chopped coriander leaves.
It’s goes well with Paulo & White Rice / Chapatti
- Tamarind – according to your taste – soak and keep in warm water.
- Can use any pulses.
- Coconut has to roast brown. Not to much brown.
